What slot ventilation is
It's a special hardware mode in which the sash is fixed in a position with a gap of 1–5 mm around the whole perimeter. Air enters evenly, but there's no draught, and street noise barely gets through. Unlike simply tilting or turning the handle, here the sash is securely fixed — a sharp gust of wind won't fling it open.

Important: slot ventilation can't be fitted to every window — it depends on the type of hardware and profile. So I always come out for a diagnosis to determine for certain whether it can be fitted.

Can't I just turn the handle to 45 degrees? That's unsafe. Without special hardware the sash isn't fixed and can be flung open by the wind, damaging the window or the slopes. Proper micro-ventilation guarantees secure fixing.
