I was asked to solve a problem: the windows were not working perfectly from the moment they were installed, they were folded, the shutters were closing with effort, and in winter it was cold. The owners had already accepted, but decided to try and get the windows in order.

I, Dmitry, am a plastic window repair worker in Minsk. I have been working since 2003, I have passed through more than 9,800 windows.

The main thing is:If the window blows from the beginning, it's not a "failed window" or a "climate" issue. It's a specific assembly error: the wrong sealant, the wrong support plates, the broken brake.

Don't take the bloating.If the window blows up since it's installed, the warranty may be out, but the problem isn't going away on its own. It's going to slowly kill the furniture: the pins, the planks, the loops, the pen.

What was found in the inspection

The most common mistakes in window assembly are three in one order.

The result

The windows are closed easily and tightly, without any overhangs. The pressure is adjusted throughout the contour, the sleeves are aligned, the seals are flat. The windows finally perform their functions fully both for heat, noise and ease of use.

From the practice of a master

The windows were folded, the shutters were closed with effort, the winter was cold, the owners almost settled, but decided to try.

The glass packaging was hard, thick, not for this task. The glass packaging was missing, the glass packaging was moved away, the shutters were bent, the pressure was broken, the equipment was overloaded.

Can we fix the windows if they've been broken from the beginning?

Yes. Assembly errors are not a sentence: the wrong seals are changed, the support plates are repositioned, the pressure is adjusted. Even if the windows are old, the correct setup transforms them.

How do you know the sealer is wrong?

If the window closes with noticeable force and the shutter blows in, the sealant is almost certainly not the same hardness.

What are the plates of the ribbon and why are they needed?

These are small layers of glass inside the shutter. They hold the glass in the correct position and provide the shutter with a rectangular shape. If there are no plates or they are not there — the shutter is clogged, the pressure breaks, the window blows.

What kind of sealant do you use?

Only Schlegel — regular (10 rb./m) or co-extruded (14 rb./m). REHAU, KBE, VEKA — are the producers of the frame profile, not the sealant.

How long does it take to fix this?

Usually one trip, 1.5 hours, depending on the number of bars, if you need to remove the glass packets and move the plates longer.

Can I ask the developer or installer for a guarantee?

If the warranty period is still running, you should try it. But in practice, most assembly errors are not formally included in the warranty or the warranty period has already passed.

Is there a job guarantee?

Yes, up to a year's work, in writing.
