- Replacing the gearbox. I removed the old, broken drive and fitted a new, original gearbox compatible with this hardware system. I checked the operation of all the tie-bars and the engagement of the cams with the strike plates.
- Reassembly. I refitted the glass unit and carefully secured the beads.
- Lubrication and adjustment. I treated all the moving parts with a special lubricant and adjusted the pressure and the sash geometry.
The whole job took about two hours. The main thing is precision and an understanding of the internal workings of the hardware.
The result
After the drive was replaced, the sash opened and closed again, and comfort was restored. Working hardware ensures easy opening and tight closing, with no draughts.
