Adjusting Plastic Windows Yourself — Step-by-Step Instructions
Over time, plastic windows start to work worse: a draught appears, the window closes badly, the sash catches the frame. 👉 In such cases, adjusting the PVC window helps. Let's look at how to do it yourself and when it's better to call a master.
🔧 When a window needs adjusting
The main signs:
- a draught from the window;
- the sash has sagged;
- the window doesn't close all the way;
- the handle turns stiffly.
🛠 What you'll need
- a hex key (usually 4 mm);
- a screwdriver;
- a bit of care.
📌 Step-by-step window adjustment
1. Adjusting the pressure. Find the eccentrics on the sash and turn them: towards the seal — stronger pressure (winter); away from the seal — weaker (summer).
2. Adjusting the sash height. There's a screw in the bottom hinge: clockwise raises the sash, anticlockwise lowers it.
3. Horizontal adjustment. This lets you remove a misalignment of the sash.
4. Lubricating the hardware. Be sure to treat the mechanism with machine oil or a special lubricant.
